Description: For this project, the 1 1/4 meter Midland 13-509 is chosen, primarily due to its application in various transparent links that support the SRG 147.20 repeater. Initially, several components that are unnecessary or that may hinder reliability and performance will be removed. This includes the T-R relay, the receiver deck, and most or all of the trimmer capacitors associated with the transmitter. The resulting open slots can then be utilized for transmitter control circuits, which will be elaborated upon later.

The Midland 13-509 is a compact transceiver designed for VHF communication, particularly suited for amateur radio applications. The decision to remove the T-R relay and receiver deck is aimed at streamlining the transceiver for dedicated transmission purposes, thereby enhancing overall performance and reliability. The removal of trimmer capacitors is also a critical step, as these components can introduce variability in tuning and stability, which may not be desirable in a fixed application.

The vacant spaces created by the removal of these components will be repurposed for the integration of transmitter control circuits.
